I did get to tangled up!

So over this very short one day weekend, i decided with the help of my 18yr old niece i would buy lamps, take the lamp shade off and wrap them in yarn. I saw this idea off of  Pinterest and decided to make it my own. It took about an hour as we had a few complications, yarn tangles really quickly FYI too anyone who did not know that. I wish someone told me that before i did this.

If you would like to know how to do this i will tell you how! :)

1.Find 2 lamps shades you would like to wrap.
(I found two lamps at TJ Maxx i had my eyes on for over a month amazed they didn't get snatched up.)

2. Useing a hot glue gun or Crafting glue start at the seam of the lamp or if it has a brim around the top and bottom start above the brim at the seam.
(dont have a picture of where i start but there is the seam i am talking) Its easier to start there so if you mess up it is the back of the lamp.
3. Wrap! around and around keep the yarn tightly together, if you want a "fading" affect try to do 4 every other color then two of the new color strands i did more of just a solid strips until i get to the cream colored yarn. When you cut your new colored yarn cover the old color over the new color.
(when wrapping keep the color you are working on inside of the lamp shade so it doesn't get tangled or your cat doesn't decide she/he wants to play with it)

and TA-DA! wrapped lamps! my niece put a top border on her lamp i choose to go all the way to the top with my last color which is very hard i had to use hot glue ever so often so the yarn didn't pop off the top.

and now you too are a "yarning" expert!

  1. That. Is. Awesome. I love crafty things! I'm impressed that you were able to pull it off, those lamps look great.

Good first blog! I also like the introduction blog, and I think that's a great topic.
